This would suggest that the effects of Reiki are then placebo and suggestion. About 15 years ago I was talking to a friend on the phone, and I knew she was a spiritual person, but I had no idea what Reiki was. She said "sit still for a second." No other instructions. She had not mentioned any kind of interaction with me before this event. <br/><br/>Then I distinctly felt an obvious pressure in my groin, like a finger probing. I gasped, and she said "sit still". My hands were on the arms of the chair. The finger pressure slowly moved its way up the middle of my torso, stopping at what I later learned were "chakra" points. Eventually the pressure rolled over my skull and then my hair felt like it was standing on end. <br/><br/>I was an atheist at the time, and while I didn't immediately accept any religion as real, it was really really hard to deny that obvious pressure walking up my body. <br/><br/>I eventually gained a metaphysical awareness of the universe through shamanism, you know, those folks the plants taught to heal.
