Google aren't exaclty great at sticking to their policies. Take trademark infringement. According to Adwords T&Cs it's against the rules but it happens all over the place. Search for any company or product name and see all the competitors who bid on the same words! It makes money you see. I wonder how they are getting on blocking content in China?

Yes, it would be a lot of sites and it would put the quackometer out of work if I could single-handedly classify all web sites into quackery/non-quackery without error.

I guess the solution is for Google not to sell words like 'homeopathy'. I am not sure exactly how the adwords algorithm work, but they stop ammunition sellers, so miracle cure sellers cannot be hard.

More importantly, it requires Google to fully buy into an evidenced-based approach to medicine that rules out miracles. They need to mean what they say about 'No Miracle Cures' and put in the time and thought to enforce that. Any argument from homeopathists (for example)that they are not 'miracle-based' but evidenced and a Google will shy away I am sure.

This cannot happen with bullets and guns. No one argues that bullets are cuddly and family friendly when travelling at 1,000mph.

Google's AdSense does allow you to prevent ads from specific web sites although I'm guessing you would have to enter lots to prevent the pill merchants from showing up :-(
